This is my first time reading a book by Melissa Brown and I so wish I went back to read Bouquet Toss and Champagne Toast though I know that this is a standalone book. Melissa’s writing is superb – this was a quick, sweet and romantic read and Melissa has been added to my list of must read authors as the writing alone was so detailed and beautiful in the descriptions.

Hadley Foster has everything mapped out for her life. She would marry her long term boyfriend Tucker, be a teacher and have two beautiful little girls. But from the prologue, we see how in life no matter how well you plan something, always expect the unexpected. This book got me from page 1 and it will do the same for you – I can guarantee it!

Hadley has had a tough life since her father passed away and her mom went into depression resulting in her becoming a shell of the mom she used to be. Little did she know how things could change so much for her one fateful night and how it could put her relationship with Tucker into question and whether or not he really was her future.

As she reconnects with her best friend’s (Auden) brother – Jason Kelly – she remembers the crush she had on him as a little girl and I LOVE seeing glimpses into the past of innocent love.

With Hadley’s change in career, the return of an old flame and the unexpected surprise that was just introduced into her life – will the planner be able to forgo her original plans for Plan B?

I could totally relate to the different emotions Hadley experienced throughout this book – the heart break, the fear of the unexpected and ultimately the unconditional love. I hated Tucker from the get go – he was the epitome of a selfish, spoiled rich kid turned successful investment banker that only thought of himself. In contrast, Jason was the underdog – the somewhat nerdy, glasses wearing Author who was endearing, sweet and thought of nothing but Hadley’s well-being and happiness. I loved his crazy t-shirts and all of the references to the ‘80’s. Most of all, I loved their history and that you can fall in love even at the earliest age of 13 and still never forget where and when you had your first real kiss – these are the moments that you can forever treasure in your heart.

The epilogue was complete perfection – sweet and romantic. I recommend this to anyone looking for a standalone book with a HEA <3.

This was Nichele Reese’s debut novel and wow! I truly enjoyed everything about this book – Tucker and Abigail, the setting in NY, the emotions and connections I experienced throughout my reading experience and most of all the honest love I felt between these two characters.
The book opens in Tucker’s POV – he is dealing drugs to make money to support himself in Bushwick Brooklyn. For anyone who is from NY, we all know what this area is like – the crime, the drugs and the hardships that are a part of daily life. Tucker has had a tough life growing up with a dead beat mother and a dad who beat him as a child and then left; never to be heard from again. And when Tucker first sees Abigail McCall coming out of her car, it’s like the world literally stops.
Abigail has lived a very privileged life – she is an only child and has never wanted for anything as her parents are very wealthy. Her father is a prominent lawyer and is warm and loving and generous and her mother is just an honest to god bitch – with a capital B! Her mother has very high expectations for Abigail and is as cold as ice. Because of her mom’s controlling behavior and lack of love, Abigail develops a purging problem. Yes it did start off as bulimia to control her weight as she is a talented ballerina but over the years it has become just a natural reaction to the stress and anxiety of dealing with her controlling mother and stressful situations.
Abigail has been accepted into Juilliard as a ballerina which is a high honor. Rather than live in the dorm, her mother buys her and her roommates a very expensive apartment close to school. As Abigail leaves for the start of school, we learn some surprising things about her life and it all starts to click for me and make sense as to why her relationship with her mother is the way that it is.
Abigail’s roommates – Jade and Rachel are awesome. They are girlfriends that you wish to have because they are there for you to support you and to always have your back. They give Abigail a new name “Gabs” and it’s like a new start for her – a chance to be a whole new person – someone who is free! Gab’s roommates are not perfect either – everyone has their own secrets and issues to deal with but for once Gabs is not an outsider, she is someone that has a place where she belongs.
When Gabs and Tucker meet – SWOON! They are immediately drawn to each other and it melts my heart with the intensity yet innocence of it. Rather than rush into a relationship, they get to know each other slowly over time. Tucker isn’t around too much for Gabs but there is a lot of texting going on. With all of his absence it makes me question right away what he is doing behind her back. Tucker has a dream of being a tattoo artist and is doing an apprenticeship with one of his friends but with all of the times he is gone, I can’t help but think he will get himself into troubles.
Gabs knows she should take her time with this first love that she has ever experienced and concentrate on her ballet because it has always been her dream but can she put aside her feelings for Tucker? Can Tucker ever get out of what he knows with drugs and have a life with Gabby who seems so far out of his league? With all of the negativity from her parents dislike for Tucker, will he ever fit into her life and vice versa? Will there be a HEA for these two people who feel so strongly for each other yet can’t seem to ever be on the same page?
You will have to read it to find out!
This is a wonderful story of two very different people from different backgrounds trying to fight for their common goal – to love one another and have a relationship. Both make mistakes throughout this book and we see how young love is not always perfect. This book dealt with some tough issues and I felt that Nichele did an amazing job making us feel and love these characters for all of their imperfections. There are some suspenseful parts that kept me on my toes and added that extra something for me towards the end of the book. This book was well written for a debut novel and very emotional. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Reese and seeing where she goes with Alex and Brad’s stories.
I want to mention that the epilogue at the end was again in Tucker’s POV and was AMAZING – and it goes to show how with love in your life – your life couldn’t be any better.

I started Pieces of You following Relentless and am immediately catapulted back into the life of Adam, Claire and Chris. They have become so dear to me in this short period of time that I have known them and I feel for them in a way that I have not felt for others in a series of books before. I was privileged to have helped organize this blog tour for Cassia Leo. I have never met such adamant fans who so strongly support either Adam or Chris and who have felt what I have felt since day 1 – that Cassia Leo is an AMAZING author who writes emotions and feelings so well that we have all fallen in love with this special cast of characters and don’t want to let them go.

You have already read from the previous stops on this tour what this book is about. So I won’t sum it up for you again but will instead tell you more about how I felt while reading this book.

In Relentless, I was an Adam lover. He saved Claire from a dark place, he told her corny jokes and made her laugh - he was good for her…he reminded her that life was worth living and that you should enjoy every moment. Also in Relentless, we are introduced to Claire’s ex – Chris. He and Claire grew up together in a foster home and had an undeniably strong bond and connection. Though Chris is from the past, there is a love there that is so strong and deep that it is immeasurable and boundless.

In Pieces of You, the story is again told in the 3 points of view which I enjoyed because I love hearing everyone’s thoughts and feelings. And though I loved Adam for Claire in Relentless, as I read more and more about Chris, I fell in love with him as a person – not only because he wanted to help her and protect her but because he would go leaps and bounds to make the world turn for her. He is sweet and every time he calls her “babe” my heart just melts even more for him. Because I know he loves her with his whole being. And I am not saying that Adam doesn’t because I know in his own way that he does…Adam is a great guy but he is not the guy for Claire in my opinion.

No one can really say what they would do in Claire’s shoes. She has had a tough life starting from her youth until now. Dealing with these heavy issues at such a young age would cause anyone to go a little crazy. Claire has dealt with it in the best way she can to this point with the support of her best friend Senia, Jackie and of course Chris and Adam. And though people will have their opinions as to who Claire has to end up with, in my heart and mind, I just want her to end up with who will make her the happiest, who will complete her life and make her whole again…the person who will bring her home.

So yes, Cassia Leo has done it again and created such an amazing cast of characters that you don’t really know who to root for because you want a HEA for everyone. I can’t wait until Bring Me Home releases so that we can finally see how it all turns out for them.

So thank you Cassia for being such an amazing author and person. I am proud to say that I know you even better than before and that you are one of my favorite authors of all time and I look forward to continuing to help promote your wonderful books and writing in the future!
